Alkali-activated Concrete (AAC) is a potential substitute for traditional Portland cement concrete. However, uncertainties regarding its chemistry and a lack of information on long-term practical performance restrict it to precast applications. Several studies have addressed the chemistry and mechanical properties of AAC. So, this book emphasizes the long-term characterization of AAC, especially under the following categories: High-temperature exposure; Drying shrinkage; and Environmental impact assessment.The performance of AAC under each of these categories is significantly enhanced, compared to traditional Portland cement.
