This book helps business leaders to frame, understand and act upon the environmental and social challenges faced by their organisations.
There is no more widespread, important and timely issue than sustainability. Global economic growth has triggered a climate emergency, along with the equally existential threats arising from deforestation, overuse of freshwater and biodiversity loss. In parallel, the sustainability of economic activity is threatened by a range of social factors, including pandemic, human rights abuse, loss of data privacy, political tension, and inequalities in wealth and opportunity across gender, race and geography.

Business leaders are increasingly being called upon to navigate these uncertain waters. They are expected to achieve dramatic reductions in carbon emissions, waste and other environmental impacts, while also contributing a positive ‘social impact’ and being held to account for their performance on equality, diversity and inclusion. Yet business education has traditionally focused on economic drivers alone – strategy, marketing, operations, finance, and the generation of financial profit and shareholder value.

The Finance Times Guide to Corporate Sustainability helps business leaders to frame, understand and act upon the environmental and social challenges faced by their organisations. As with all FT Guides, the approach is comprehensive, practical, and authoritative.
