This book presents innovative and interdisciplinary applications of advanced technologies. It includes the scientific outcomes of the 9th DAYS OF BHAAAS (Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences) held in Banja Vrućica, Teslić, Bosnia and Herzegovina on May 25-28, 2017. This unique book offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary overview of the latest developments in a broad section of technologies and methodologies, viewed through the prism of applications in computing, networking, information technology, robotics, complex systems, communications, energy, mechanical engineering, economics and medicine, to name just a few.



Mirsad Hadzikadic is a Professor in the Department of Software and Information Systems at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has over thirty years of information technology experience combining business and academic environments.  He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University where he was a Fulbright Scholar. Mirsad served as the Founding Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics.  He is currently serving as the Director of the Complex Systems Institute at UNC Charlotte and the Executive Director of Data Science Initiative.  His research interests include machine learning complexity theory, and a systems' view of policies in financial services, economics, defense, healthcare, and political science.

Samir AVDAKOVIC was born in 1974 in Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Tuzla in 2006 and 2012, respectively. Currently, he is working in the Department for Strategic Development in EPC Elektroprivreda B&H and Faculty of electrical engineering - Department of Power Engineering - University of Sarajevo. Since October 2014, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, where he currently teaches courses in fundamentals of Power System Operations and Control, Power System Planning and Demand Side Management. His research interests are: power system analysis, power system dynamics and stability, WAMPCS, smart systems, signal processing, biomedical engineering.
