John D. Allen holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, where he also received an M.S. in urban studies and B.S. in economics. He has over 30 years of experience supporting people with intellectual and other disabilities. Dr. Allen is the founder of the New Haven Pride Center, where he created and cofacilitated the Rainbow Support Group. His research focuses on how to support individuals with intellectual disabilities and other challenges to have opportunities for intimate relationships and sexual expression.
