Introduction: Charlie's Story

It's 1968 and Dennis Wilson is one of America's most famous rock stars. Member of the "Beach Boys" he is living a dream life.

Of course, the group's latest works have not achieved the hoped-for success, but the fans are loyal and have not abandoned them.

Dennis is sure that the "Beach Boys" still have a lot to give and their next work will be a great success, you just need to know how to wait for the right inspiration.

Meanwhile, Wilson enjoys his mansion, surfing, wild sex and LSD in abundance. Heck, she's a rock star!

One day Dennis notices two girls hitchhiking, young, pretty and poorly dressed.

Dennis is sure that one of them will end up in his bed and get them into the car.

The two girls are definitely not uninhibited and have no problem doing three things with a famous singer, indeed, their friends will go crazy with jealousy when they know.

Dennis doesn't let himself be begged and has sex with the two girls at the same time and then their paths diverge.

Dennis is increasingly convinced that being a famosis cool and the two girls have a good story to tell their friends.

At this point in history it is easy to understand that the first lesson of this book is "Do not give rides to strangers" because Dennis Wilson with that ride in the car started a series of events that will lead to one of the most heinous massacres in American history.

Wilson doesn't think about that episode for a while, but then he finds the two girls hitchhiking again and loads them back into the car.

The script repeats itself, threesomes all night long, how good it is to be Dennis Wilson!

Dennis has to work on the engravings the next day and doesn't have time to take the two girls where they need to go. He leaves them in his mansion and tells them to do like the sand they were at home.

He will come back in the evening to get in with them again.

Dennis comes back very late, at 3 am and what he sees makes him uncomfortable.

His mansion is full of people taking drugs, having sex and drinking like sponges. It looks like a party, but no one has bothered to warn the landlord.

Dennis tries to figure out what the hell happens when he sees a skinny guy with a beard and a magnetic gaze approaching him along with the two hitchhikers.

Wilson believes the boy is the papputs girls and wants some money and prepares to pay for the benefits, but the boy smiles and says to shut up.

"I have no bad intentions, you are the big one here!" he says, and to underline his words he kneels down and kisses the musician's feet.

Wilson notes that all women seem to hang on that guy's lips, telling him to choose who he wants to have sex, all for free, it's the least he can do for him.

Dennis doesn't let himself be begged and gives up all night.

How cool to be Dennis Wilson.

The boy is called Charlie Manson and he and Dennis become friends.

Manson is charismatic and charming, even though Dennis can't help but feel uncomfortable around him, like that boy is a time bomb ready to go off.

Charlie has started a common hippy and asks Dennis if they can stay at his house for some time and the singer accepts.

Manson in exchange provides him with women and drugs, which he always seems to possess. Charlie tells him that the commune is backed by some theft and drug dealing.

Just ask for what you want and Charlie will find it, and very good quality too.

Charles Manson, Wilson thinks, interesting guy.

Manson was born in Cincinnati on November 12, 1934, the son of a crazy girl.

The natural father is unknown.

Manson has a turbulent childhood marked by violence and repeated humiliation.

The mother can't find a man at least decent and she also works hard to make things more complicated with drug problems.

Kathleen, the mother, is often a prostitute and can barely take care of herself, let alone a problem child like Charles.

Little Manson in fact has a natural talent for crime and tells lies with disarming ease and from an early age proves to be a born manipulator.

She manages to get others to do their dirty work most of the time, and the idea of living an honest life doesn't even pass through the anteroom of her brain.

Charlie spends most of his life behind bars for a thousand different crimes and prison makes him slimy, obsessed with sex and power, manipulative and ready to do anything to achieve his goals.

Manson's journey resembles that of writer Edward Bunker, both rejected and destined to rot in prison, and both hoping to find a place in the world in a "clean" way.

Bunker succeeds with books, Manson learns to play the guitar and composes songs and dreams of breaking into show business and playing with the Beatles, his idols.

Manson loves them, he knows all the songs by heart and what Fab 4 says is Gospel for him.

In 1967 Manson was released (for the umpteenth time) from prison and this time he was determined not to return.

We don't know if it is the desire for a normal life or simply the instinct of the criminal, but Charlie doesn't want to end up in the slammer anymore.

He has a guitar, notebooks full of lyrics and wants to enter the world of music, but he doesn't know how.

All criminologists are sympathetic enough to say that Manson would never have become what he was if he hadn't been in the right place at the right time.

We are in the middle of the hippie period, there are many confused and drug-addicted young people and Charlie manages to exploit his charisma and the manipulation techniques he studied in prison with ro.

Those guys need guidance and Charlie is ready to be.

Manson acts like Jesus and begins to gather disciples, especially women because he doesn't like to engage with other guys unless they quickly understand who's in charge.

His group is called Family and they walk across the state in a rickety black van and eventually settle into a former movie set outside of Los Angeles, a stone's throw from Hollywood.

Charlie controls the group maniacally, he is Christ and Satan together and his word is law.

Those who oppose it are thrown out and Manson also prophesies the imminent arrival of a race war.

He understood this by reading the Beatles lyrics which contain subtexts that only he can understand.

It is "them" versus "us", and we must be ready for anything when it comes to reckoning, a perfect method of mind manipulation, and it works.

Charlie and his family make a living from robberies, prostitutes and drug dealing, and Manson makes sure everyone is always well drugged so as not to think about anything and not question his leadership.

Everything starts to change when the two girls riding Wilson's penis tell Charlie what happened and this chance encounter seems like a sign of fate for Manson, who probably prompts the two girls to track down the singer.

This is Charles Manson, Dennis Wilson's best friend.

Manson tries to manipulate Wilson using all his weapons at his disposal: women, drugs, charisma and small talk and Dennis has to admit that Charlie is not bad, he's weird, sure, but he's fine and always full of women, he's a worthy person. worth having by your side.

Charles talks to the musician and reveals his dream of becoming a singer by showing him the lyrics and chords he wrote. Wilson is impressed with Manson's work and believes there is talent and wants to get out of debt after all the drugs Charlie gave him along with women and asks his producer, Terry Melcher, to give that guy a chance.

Melcher is the son of Doris Day and is the man behind the success of the "Beach Boys".

He knows how to recognize talent and when he sees Charlie he has a strange feeling.

The boy has a strange magnetism, you have to recognize that, and he might puncture the screen, but the songs don't drive him crazy and he feels strange sensations.

Maybe it's his sixth sense that warns him that that guy just brings problems and lets him go.

Terry decides to listen to that voice and tells Manson he's sorry, but nothing will be done about it.

Thanks for coming, good luck and bye.

Charlie doesn't take it well and perhaps this refusal is the first big disappointment of his life.

His manipulations were unsuccessful and that guy told him that he is not special and, in fact, not worth investing in him.

It's a trauma for Charlie, especially after caressing his dream so closely.

Dennis Wilson tries to patch it up and manages to convince the other band members to include a Charlie song on their next album, "20/20" (1969).

Charlie is happy and also decides to give up any rights to the song to appear on their album.

It is not the debut he dreamed of but millions of people will listen to his words.

Manson strongly believes in this project and also records audio tracks at Wilson's house (never released).

But the reality is very different from where Manson lives. The other Beach Boys don't let themselves be manipulated like Dennis and agree that the song doesn't work that way, it needs to be rearranged.

Manson's song is called "Cease To Exist", the group totally revolutionizes it and calls it "Never Learn Not To Love".

Needless to say, Charlie doesn't take it well, on the contrary, he gets pissed off like a beast and promises revenge.

Perhaps at that moment his mind leaves for the point of no return also because the failures of thesecuntinui begin to question his leadership in the sect.

Dennis Wilson has realized that something has changed and that Manson is a time bomb and wisely decides...
