Through prose poetry and mini-essays I have attempted to illustrate the preciousness of life as well as its companion, death. At times I veer into a bit of meaningful humor. I try to capture life's vagaries, her moods, her unanswerable questions as well her pure unadulterated joy. Life still puzzles me. I have yet to pry open her door and see her true wonder, but perhaps some light has escaped beneath the door. Here's hoping you will see some of that light as well. Judson Hyatt

If I were to say what defines me now, I would say 'a writer.' Maybe I have always been a writer, to some degree or another. I started my first journal at sixteen. It was all full of hormones and lust and teenage stuff, but slowly got better over the years. I still have the sixteen year journal as proof that I was once sixteen. My actual profession was that of a hospital pharmacist, believe it or not. Those were good years for the most part, but all the time, I kept writing. It seems that writing chose me and has become something I must do. Now, retired, I find much more time for reading, and its cousin, writing.. I was lucky in marriage. She still puts up with my quirky behavior after sixty-two years of marriage. We are the proud parents of two remarkable children who have very different skills, but adore each other. I'm like the story in my book, Charlie, who says, 'Ain't I lucky?' Judson
