I am an ordinary person who has encountered extraordinary experiences throughout this lifetime. Each moment-both joyful and challenging-has been a lesson, and I am extremely grateful for them all. Through the process of writing this book, I have uncovered my passion and awakened to the truth of my contribution to this world. What I've discovered is not just a calling, but a responsibility-to express my truth, to live in alignment with the Creative Source of Being that flows through me, and to recognize that same Divine Essence within each of you. We are all on a sacred journey of becoming-shedding old layers, embracing our truths, and growing into the highest expression of who we are meant to be. And as we rise into new levels of awareness and purpose, we are called to reach back and lift others who are ready to rise too. For in lifting others, we lift ourselves. In sharing our light, we illuminate the path for those still searching. This, I now understand, is the true meaning of legacy and planting seeds for our future, while enjoying the process of the present moment. Enjoy Becoming... Dunican
This thought-provoking spirituality book explores the powerful parallels between the growth of a seed and the evolution of human consciousness. Just as a seed breaks through darkness to reach the light, our inner spirit awakens through life's trials, nurturing self-awareness and divine alignment. With rich metaphors and gentle wisdom, this book invites readers to reflect, root deeply, and rise into their highest potential-guided by the quiet force within. A journey of mind, body, and spirit-rooted in nature, blossoming into purpose, and awakened by grace.
Introduction
The need for change bulldozed a road down the center of my mind.
– Maya Angelou
I have always had a notion for curiosity. Why is the sky blue? How do birds know of a need to fly south for the winter? How do humans know what they instinctively know? Where is this information stored in our brains? Where do our thoughts originate? Where do our thoughts go when we are not thinking about them? Where did we come from and why are we here? Who created us and who created the Creator? Later in life, my thirst for learning grew stronger amongst a variety of subjects. My favorite subject was self-help and assisting the improvement of those around me. I have always been curious about success, how to obtain it, how others have obtained it and how to define it for myself. In the earlier years, my skewed opinion of success was shrouded by obtaining material belongings and having the ability to eat at pricey restaurants and traveling to exotic destinations. After some of those experiences were achieved, I still wanted more. Something inside was nudging me to ask the right questions about me and the world around me and the world inside of me. Notice, I had to start with myself. We spend so much time and energy getting to know others, our friends, spouses, partners, co-workers, loved ones and even folks we don’t particularly care for, and yet we neglect to take the time to really know who we are. I want to emphasize that with all the distractions in today’s environment, we really do not know ourselves or rarely pause for a moment to ask the question: “who am I, really?” We recognize our reflection, yet we often do not recognize the being on the inside, the “Spiritual Being.” After all, we spend 100% of our time with ourselves and many do not stay still long enough to think and ask questions of ourselves and to seek the right answers. For every magnificent event, disappointing moment or horrific experience, we were present with ourselves. Some of those events have faded from our memory and many have stayed with us throughout the years, especially the ones that were tied to emotionally charged moments. After gaining more insight through reading, education, and life’s experiences, I discovered success to obtaining knowledge and sharing it and helping others to grow. In the moments where a person understands the answer to the question that is being asked, it is truly rewarding to see this progress. Once a question is answered, the answer to another question will be desired. There is no real end—there is only progression.
If we want to define an end, success is being able to emotionally capitalize on the moments of, well, just plain feeling good! Regardless of how one obtains the knowledge, share it and use it for one’s greater good, in turn, one will have the ability to grow himself or herself. For me, coaching, mentoring and guiding others felt natural. My career gravitated towards positions that allowed me to help others develop into better versions of themselves. In a nutshell, this process changed my behavior over the years to encourage others to reach beyond their potential. Growing up I remembered hearing many say, “the sky is the limit.” Today we can say, “the sky is no longer the limit.” The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope has shifted this paradigm and has revolutionized space exploration, by utilizing advanced high-resolution instruments to capture and share breathtaking images of the universe beyond our skies. Our very own thoughts, beliefs and imaginations are our limitations. In turn, I have continued to grow, asked the right questions, and stayed encouraged to know that others are seeing life as a phenomenal journey. It has been an absolute blast and it continues to get better! I am still enjoying the journey of learning, understanding, sharing and embracing gratitude during this lifetime. Wow! Just take the time to look around. It is absolutely beautiful out here! It is utterly incredible! It is the feeling of just being present and connected to the current moment.
Many have heard of the cliché: change is the only thing that remains constant. One could challenge this saying, and yet, I do not know of a better substitute. Changes happen all around us, within us and to us each day. The changes in our environment, our bodies, our jobs, our talents, our gifts, our homes, our beliefs, our families, and friends are all changing and influencing our thoughts and decisions. If you are reading this book, you may be curious about your level of change and how to manage it. There is an excess of great authors who have written materials on change. One of the most recent authors shaped my opinion so drastically, it was the glimmer of knowledge that I needed to read, learn and share with others to completely understand how to cultivate change. Authors Heath and Heath (ironically also from North Carolina) wrote the book titled: Switch. Although this change was focused primarily on industries, it was essentially a thought process of how to direct, control and sustain the idea of change. This book turned on a switch inside of me. I was encouraged to learn more about myself, my beliefs, my thoughts and my purpose. There is an extensive list of other authors, speakers and books that I would like to share and recommend: Jim Rohn, Wayne Dyer, Bob Proctor, Napoleon Hill, Dennis Kimbro, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Joe Vitale, Dr. Dilbert Blair, Mike Murphy, Peter J. Voogd, Chris Gardner, Thich Nhat Hanh, Mark Batterson, Kahlil Gibran, Penney Peirce, James Nestor, Maya Angelo, Robert Kiyosaki, Abdullah the Ethiopian mystic, Neville Goddard, Dr. Joseph Murphy, Michael Watkins, Paulo Coelho, Mantak Chia, Michael Todd, Michael Singer, Malcolm Gladwell, David Goggins, Bhante Gunaratana, Dr. Masaru Emoto, Patanjali, Grant Cardone, Hal Elrod, Michael Todd, Les Brown, Florence Scovel Shinn, The Three Initiatives, Esther and Jerry Hicks (Abraham Hicks), Louise Hay, Sara Landon, Maureen J. St. Germain, Eckhart Tolle, Alan Watts, Eric Thomas, Hans Wilhelm, Joseph Benner, Dolores Cannon, Jane Roberts, Billy Carson, Mitchel Gibson, Rumi, Paramahansa Yogananda, the Bible, the Torah, the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, Christ’s Letter from Christ’s Way, and the teachings of the Buddhist Tripitaka. They have all helped to reshape my former myopic view of the world and I am just scratching the surface. These lists of books are not in any order; however, I wanted you to understand that there is a vast amount of knowledge available, and you migrate towards and select what you are interested in knowing. Learning never stops, or rather, should never stop. If you are open to learning and challenging your assumptions, your level of thinking expands and the questions you ask will be more intentional and intelligently driven. An open mind will receive answers. The answers may surprise you, and your thinking will continually expand. After falling in love with reading and listening to audiobooks, I have not turned back. As a matter of fact, I am just getting started. Within the pages of this book, there are thoughts that reflect the opinion of the author, based on experiences. There is an energy that attracts a variety of readers. It is my belief that we don’t necessarily choose the books we read; the books choose us when we are ready to receive the information. The author’s messages within their book entered the atmosphere and led me to its collective source. This phenomenon has occurred to me hundreds of times. I would see a book on the shelf or listen to the audible intro, and skip to the next selection. Later, I would review the same book and purchase it right away. For every occurrence this happened, I found that the message in the book was right on time.
Ten years prior to writing this book, I could not have engaged in an open conversation about my beliefs or religious views without the likelihood of being gravely offended. I was territorial, and so strongly cemented in my beliefs that anything not aligned with my Christian views, it would have been considered as blasphemy. My beliefs were right, and everyone else’s were wrong. Does that sound familiar? I can only imagine that people in other religions would feel the same way. For centuries, there have been wars, deaths, and destruction over the dogma of religion. Many have died for the sake of praying to Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, and other religious figures. Then again, on the flip side, we have seen so many great achievements as well. I wholeheartedly believe that the good outweighs the bad when it comes to religion, nevertheless; we must ask ourselves, which one is right? As many would believe, we only live life once and we can’t afford to make a mistake about religion. On the other hand, there are beliefs that we live multiple lifetimes until we get it right. Although raised as a Christian, I have opened my thoughts to a greater awareness regarding the singularity of different religions around the world and how they have governed the thoughts and beliefs of billions. My lady, Teresa, shared a term that resonated with me – omnism. Omnism is the belief that no singular religion is the only truth, but that truths are found in them all. If you are willing to open your mind, you will have more questions than answers. I am not here to convince anyone that their viewpoints on religion are right or wrong. You will find the answers to your questions from within you. You already have the answers and the ability to tap into a river of knowledge as long as you are willing to sit still long enough, and open your mind and heart to listen to your inner self. Like planting a garden, a person must clear the area and till the soil prior to planting new seeds. It would be absurd to plant a new...
