This atlas uses four different scales of mapping, covering Europe from the Orkneys to Istanbul, and Gibraltar to St Petersburg. Large scale approach maps show urban areas, while city-centre plans are more detailed. Tourist information and scenic driving routes are featured.
Philip's Multiscale Europe 2002 uses four different scales of mapping - making it the most flexible and comprehensive European atlas on the market. With digitally produced mapping, this atlas also features more tourist information than any other atlas of Europe. Covering the whole of Europe, from the Orkneys to Istanbul and from Gibraltar to St Petersburg, Multiscale Europe contains: 1. 25 pages of travel information, including driving regulations, an illustrated guide to great sights of Europe, a business guide to industrial centres and driving information for ski resorts. 2. 16 pages of route-planning maps covering the whole of Europe at the scale of 64 miles to 1 inch. These enable journeys of up to 700 miles to be planned and followed without turning the page. 3. 80 pages of ultra-clear, digitally produced road maps at the convenient scale of 16 miles to 1 inch. These are packed with up-to-date road detail, and also features new scenic driving routes and enhanced tourist information including towns, beaches, ferries, national parks, historic sites and other tourist attractions. 4. 23 large-scale approach maps for major cities and urban areas. These clearly show the main routes of entry to each city through busy and complex urban road systems.
5. 41 highly detailed city centre plans. These new-look plans show historic buildings and tourist attractions, car parks, post offices, police stations and railway and underground stations. All main streets are clearly marked and named. For ease of use the city plan is shown adjacent to the relevant urban approach map. Among other features the atlas also includes a 36-city distances table and detailed index.
