Cognitive mathematics provides insights into how mathematics works inside the brain and how it is interconnected with other faculties through so-called blending and other associative processes. This handbook is the first large collection of various aspects of cognitive mathematics to be amassed into a single title, covering decades of connection between mathematics and other figurative processes as they manifest themselves in language, art, and even algorithms. Marcel Danesi, Ph.D, is Full Professor of linguistic anthropology at the University of Toronto and Director of the Program in Semiotics of the same university. He is also co-director of the CogSci Network of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences. He has written extensively on mathematics education and cognitive mathematics, including two recent books, Ahmes' Legacy: Puzzles and the Mathematical Mind (Springer 2018) and (edited) Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Math Cognition (Springer 2020).
