The present work describes the results of numerical investigation on the fatigue behaviour of an I beam welded to circular hollow section (CHS) column X-joint. The aim of this study is to investigate the stress concentration factors (SCFs) in this type of welded joint when being subjected to axial loading, in-plane bending (IPB) and out-of-plane bending (OPB). The general purpose finite element software package Abaqus CAE was employed to perform the analysis. Based on the finite element (FE) analysis and using multiple regression analysis, new set of parametric equations was established to predict the maximum SCFs.
