INTRODUCTION
Part One
There are stories that human language struggles to capture. There are lives that seem to be written by the very hand of God. And there are journeys so spiritual, so carefully woven by divine encounters, that to describe them is to step into sacred ground. My husband’s life was one of those journeys. A path marked by unusual grace, heaven’s discipline, and a calling that chased him long before he understood what it meant to be chosen. When I write about him, I am not just writing about a man. I am writing about a message.
From the moment I met him, it was clear that he did not belong to the ordinary rhythm of life. There was a silence around him that spoke louder than words. He was quiet, yet his presence carried weight. He was humble, yet his spirit was bold. He feared God, yet fear did not rule him. He approached every assignment with the confidence of someone who had already seen the end from the beginning. And many times, I wondered how a man so gentle could carry such authority, how a man so simple could walk with such revelation, how a man so accommodating could still be fiercely disciplined in the things of God.
People called him many names. His father called him general. His friends called him general. I too called him God’s general, not because he demanded honor, but because his life demanded it. He walked with God like someone who understood heaven’s language. He served people like someone who carried their burdens inside his chest. He loved deeply, quietly, consistently. He blessed everyone he met, from students to colleagues, neighbours to church members, pastors to strangers, even down to the roadside sellers of tomatoes, shoe menders, and biro sellers trying to survive another day. To him, no soul was too small to receive kindness. And this, I believe, is one of the marks of a true general: the ability to see greatness in those society overlooks.
Before educational life, Before marriage, before ministry, before titles, before responsibilities, heaven had already started training him. Many people step into ministry after years of preparation, but heaven prepared him long before he ever imagined he would pastor anyone. His spiritual journey began in his youth service days, a season when many people are finding themselves, experimenting with life, or simply trying to survive. But for him, that season became an altar. It became the womb of his encounters.
He told me many times about the strange yet beautiful experiences he had, encounters with angels, visions that felt more real than waking life, instructions that guided his steps with precision. The angels did not only speak to him; they taught him. They opened the scriptures to him. They showed him things that the natural mind could not comprehend. They gave him a spiritual bath, cleansing him, preparing him for his assignment. When he woke from that encounter, his body trembled. His whole being shook as if eternity had touched him. He had to run to the mentors to understand better. They nurtured him through that season, teaching him how to handle spiritual encounters without fear.
But the encounters did not stop there. The angels often referred to him by a name he did not understand, Naphtali. They called him that repeatedly, and he kept wondering who or what it meant. Until he found out the name connected to Jacob’s lineage through Rachel. Still confused, he waited for further instruction. Then came the revelation: "You will no longer be . You will be called an Israelite." Heaven changed his name because heaven Nattalie changed his assignment. This was more than identity; it was purpose. It was destiny unfolding. It was God taking someone from darkness into light and giving him a name that carried generational meaning.
As I listened to him tell these stories over the years, I realized something important: God had been preparing him long before life required his leadership. God trained him before people followed him. God refined him before men acknowledged him. The spiritual foundations of his life were not built on conferences or titles; they were built on encounters, obedience, and a heart that wanted nothing more than to please God.
This is why he became such a powerful example to young men, husbands, leaders, ministers, and all who came near him. His life was a classroom, and God was the teacher. Every decision he made had a divine echo behind it. If God asked him to rest, he rested. If God asked him to study, he studied. If God asked him to travel, he traveled. If God asked him to stay, he stayed. He understood what many never learn: obedience is the true measure of spiritual maturity.
When we married, the call of God did not wait. Ministry started immediately. Our home became an altar, our marriage became an assignment, and our journey became a witness to what happens when two people surrender to God’s will completely. His 12 years of marriage and ministry were one continuous story of grace, grace to serve, grace to endure, grace to learn, grace to grow, grace to lead, and eventually, grace to finish well.
You will see throughout this book that his calling was not shaped by convenience. It was shaped by consecration. He never compromised on the things God told him to do. He remained a student until his last breath, studying, learning, earning certificates, increasing his knowledge, sharpening his skills. To him, growth was not an option. It was part of the calling. He believed that anyone God uses must keep growing. His life was living proof that the call of God demands discipline.
This introduction is only the beginning of his story.
Part Two
One of the greatest truths I learned through my husband’s journey is that God can position angels in our way unknowingly. He lived this reality. His encounters were never for entertainment. They were preparing. They were assignments. They were divine reminders that spiritual destinies are not carried by human strength alone. His life constantly showed that heaven is closer than we think, and that those who walk in obedience attract supernatural help.
Whenever he shared the story of how the angels bathed him spiritually, I saw how careful God is in raising His generals. Heaven washed him because heaven intended to use him. Heaven renamed him because heaven was rewriting his destiny. Heaven instructed him because heaven trusted him. And he responded to every instruction with the humility of a man who knew he was nothing without the One who called him.
His walk with God naturally became a message to the young men around him. His life taught them how to love their wives, how to fear God, how to serve people, and how to balance boldness with humility. Many saw in him a reflection of what a godly husband should be. He was not loud, yet his voice carried authority. He was not imposing, yet his presence brought peace. He was a father not only to his biological children, but to countless others whose paths crossed his.
I often watched how he carried the burdens of others with sincerity. Someone would mention a challenge, and he would respond with a prayer, a seed, a visit, or a word of encouragement. He did not see ministry as a title; he saw it as an assignment. And once he recognised something as God’s assignment, he pursued it with fearlessness. He would often say, “If it is God-sized, then fear has no space.” That was the boldness heaven gave him.
When the Lord led us to Winners Chapel, it was not merely a change of denomination, it was a divine step into deeper spiritual schooling. He obeyed immediately, even when distance made it difficult. When I hesitated because of the long journey, heaven made sure I understood that the call was both of ours. The ministry angels visited me too, directing me in a dream through the face of Daddy Adobote, who pointed the way to Winners Chapel. That was when I knew that God Himself was relocating us for purpose.
At Winners, he completed the three basic WOFBI courses, not as a formality but as a Divine training. These courses sharpened his understanding, broadened his spiritual vision, and prepared him for what was coming. He never saw training as a burden. He saw it as an honour. To him, learning was worship.
His work in the satellites house fellowship was fruitful. God used him to open more centres, strengthen communities, and raise teams. Pastors like late Pastor James and Pastor Chioma in Mafoluku worked with him, witnessing firsthand how God enlarged his influence. But with growth came new instructions. The more he travelled for crusades, the more the regional head became uncomfortable with his frequent absence. Yet even that was part of his transition. The Spirit of God was releasing him into a broader assignment, one that could not be limited to a single fellowship or region.
He began receiving instructions to pray for neighbours, friends, and strangers in need of deliverance. He prayed until burdens were lifted. He fasted until the atmosphere shifted. And every time he returned from these spiritual missions, God had taken care of what seemed impossible. He once shared what God told him during those seasons:
“I called you to come and learn under Papa Bishop Oyedepo, but not to relax. I sent you to set the captives free and bind the wounds of the innocent.”
That statement carried the weight of Isaiah 61:1–11 (ESV), the scripture that defined his calling:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to
