The author weaves discussion of the development of schools-based counselling, beginning in the 1960s, throughout to critically engage with the English state school approach to supporting the mental health of adolescents. Angela Keane is a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist who works with adults and adolescents. She has been involved in state secondary schools as a governor, counsellor, parent and pupil. Earlier in her career she was a lecturer in English Literature at a number of universities.
