La langue des Hasa?is est reputee difficile d'acces et la pensee de son auteur relativement opaque. Avec ce livre, le lecteur dispose desormais d'une cle pour penetrer la pensee linguistique d'un des grammairiens les plus importants de la tradition grammaticale arabe. Il montre comment Ibn Ginni a mobilise les concepts de l'episteme de son epoque pour systematiser le raisonnement explicatif grammatical. En lisant ce livre, le lecteur percevra egalement l'importance accordee par Ibn Ginni au role joue par le locuteur dans le changement de la langue, en ce sens que le locuteur est percu comme le veritable agent (?amil) de son discours. Ce travail offre egalement au lecteur une perspective plus large sur la relation d'Ibn Ginni avec la tradition grammaticale puisqu'il montre, par exemple, que la plupart des reflexions diachroniques d'Ibn Ginni sont empruntees a l'un des disciples oublies de Sibawayhi (180/796) : al-Ahfas al-Awsat (215/830). The language of Hasa?is is reputed to be difficult to access, and the thought of its author relatively opaque. With this book, readers now have a key to penetrate the linguistic thought of one of the most important grammarians in the Arabic grammatical tradition. It shows how Ibn Ginni used the concepts of the episteme of his time to systematize grammatical explanatory reasoning. On reading this book, the reader will also perceive the importance attached by Ibn Ginni to the role played by the speaker in language change, in that the speaker is seen as the true agent (?amil) of his discourse. This work also offers the reader a broader perspective on Ibn Ginni's relationship with the grammatical tradition, as it shows, for example, that most of Ibn Ginni's diachronic reflections are borrowed from one of Sibawayhi's forgotten disciples (180/796): al-Ahfas al-Awsat (215/830).
