To this end, the books Raça e Assimilação by Vianna, Casa Grande e Senzala by Freyre and Raízes do Brasil by Holanda are briefly examined.

Iara Andrade Senra is a historian and history teacher with the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Education. She has a PhD in Comparative History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a Master's degree in Social History from the Severino Sombra University (USS). She is dedicated to Political History, specifically researching National Identity.
