The threats to this have also developed and in some ways strengthened, the appeal to greed and fear by politicians of all persuasions, narrow nationalism and the rise of fundamentalism.In the last few years I have shifted in my attitudes becoming more concerned with abuses of trust at a public level. I realise now that Hitler is still here, and manifest in any context that condones crimes against humanity. And we share in that.Despite this my overall feeling is affirmative. We are reaching a point whereby a shift is possible in our thinking, in our actions, in the deepest part of our being. Perhaps this book will contribute in some way. There are some ideas-oriented items in the early section but the focus is Australia. Then follows a sequence on China, with a more global perspective in the last section.Some items are personal but there is increasing concern with global issues. There are momentsin this broken conversation,when he chattering is not cliche,the words lose the meaning they never had,when we understand more than we know,dreams dissolving in endless space,and all that is, is mindless grace.
