Anna Ijjas prüft die gängige Praxis der Quanten-Metaphysik, weltanschauliche Positionen empirisch zu stützen, und stellt ein alternatives Modell vor, um Quantenmechanik und Metaphysik miteinander zu verbinden. Ziel der Quanten-Metaphysik ist es, weltanschauliche Positionen empirisch zu stützen, indem metaphysische Hypothesen aus physikalischer Sicht untersucht werden. Es gibt mittlerweile kaum noch ein metaphysisches Problem, das nicht unter Berufung auf die Quantenmechanik angeblich gelöst wurde. Anna Ijjas hinterfragt dieses Vorgehen und schlägt ein anderes Modell vor. Sowohl physikalische Grundlagen als auch klassische philosophische Themen werden behandelt, bevor zuletzt Konsequenzen für die Willensfreiheit, das Verhältnis von Geist und Gehirn und das Wirken Gottes in der Welt erörtert werden.

Quantum mechanics has always fascinated philosophers as well as theologians. The problem of understanding seemed to open new possibilities in the interdisciplinary field. Debates on possible metaphysical implications of quantum mechanics began, very early, perhaps too early. For many interpretational attempts turned out to be inappropriate. As a result, quantum metaphysics lost credit in the scientific community. In light of this, the reticence of today’s scholars is understandable. Anna Ijjas, however, does not believe that the old failures should be taken as a reason for not doing any research in the field of quantum metaphysics. The old failures should rather animate today’s scientists to do it better. In her present study Ijjas revisits the old main ideas of quantum metaphysics. Thereby she does not work with any old results, but investigates step by step in a cautious manner. This also means that in each section she starts at a very basic level. First of all, she focuses on the problem of interpretation and suggests a method how to manage it. Applying this method, it becomes possible to point out the relevance of quantum physics for metaphysics and philosophical theology.>
