“It is part of the German nature to rather trust a serious-minded person than a good-humoured one.” German businesspeople may seem very stern in business life. Business is seen as a serious matter that does not tolerate a lot of humour. Germans are often said to lack humour. That is not fully correct. German humour is often subtle and concealed, be it only because the German language often uses rather more complicated puns than for example the English one.
