Abstract
Football is a popular team sport for young and old people for decades and is called by enthusiasts the beautiful game. However, individual online football programs have risen only for the past 5 to 10 years in the digital world. Young football players train and develop football skills with different teammates and coaches in local clubs. As soon as young players discover that they want to develop more skills and train more, they are looking for tailored training plans online. One provider who offers such training plans in Germany is Topspielerakademie (TSA) individual online football program. To analyse how TSA is targeting these young football players as potential clients, a strategic marketing analysis is conducted focusing on TSA’s current marketing mix with a focus on the 7Ps: product, price, place, promotion, people, packaging, and process. Via the SWOT analysis tool and the TOWS confrontational matrix tool the aim is to give detailed recommendations for the future strategic marketing decisions and improvements for the current content offer and TSA’s business organisation. The current strategic marketing operations and social media presence has been investigated, and literature in the field of youth football development and the use of marketing mix (7Ps) have been reviewed. Additionally, TSA’s football program has been tested personally from the author of this thesis. It is recommended that TSA adjusts its current strategic marketing operations in the following areas: A dual communication strategy should be implemented to reach the user and the buyer effectively. TSA’s portfolio of video content needs to be positioned clearly and independently in three separated modules into technical, mental, and athletic modules. Potential business partnerships with current popular German football influencers on social media can support TSA’s business strategy, and it is advisable to create valuable content videos frequently across social media channels.
