Textile Waste Management: Strategies for Sustainability delves into solutions for sustainability surrounding the substantial waste generated during textile processing and manufacturing. In response to growing recognition of these issues, various stakeholders are calling for sustainable practices, circular economy strategies, regulatory interventions, and consumer education campaigns to minimize waste and promote recycling. This comprehensive book provides insights, analysis, and practical solutions for managing textile waste in a sustainable and responsible manner. It aims to contribute to a more sustainable future by addressing the complexities of textile waste management and advocating for successful strategies to reduce environmental impact and promote circularity.

Dr. Mohammad Shahid, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Sciences at Dr. K N Modi University (DKNMU) in Newai, India. Before joining DKNMU, he worked at various esteemed institutions including Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Soochow University, China, University of Glasgow, UK, and the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Dr Shahid has received several esteemed fellowships to support his research pursuits, including research grants from UGC, India, China Postdoctoral Fellowship, EU Marie Curie Fellowship, and Dr. D. S. Kothari Fellowship. He has contributed to over 50 scientific publications encompassing peer-reviewed journal articles, reviews, reports, and chapters. In addition, has also edited and authored books with renowned international publishing houses. Dr. Luqman Jameel Rather, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the College of Sericulture, Textile, and Biomass Science, Southwest University, China, working with Prof. Qing Li. He earned his doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India in 2017. He pursued his master's in Chemistry in 2010 from the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India. Currently, he is an active member of many research organizations, takes part in organizing international and national level conferences, and serves as editor and reviewer of several scientific journals. His research is focused on the functional finishing of textile material especially wool, silk, and cotton (Antimicrobial, Antifungal, UV Protective, Insect Repellent, Flame-Retardant, Antioxidant, etc) along with the thermodynamic and kinetic adsorption studies of natural colorants on wool fiber. His research extends to the field of nanoparticle-biopolymer (Ag nanoparticle-chitosan, Ag nanoparticle-cyclodextrin, Cellulose-nanoparticle-textile blend) composite finishing of the textile substrate. He has contributed to more than 70 research publications, including 3 books, and 12 book chapters). Prof. Ravindra V. Adivarekar, Ph.D., is a distinguished researcher and professor in textile science at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India, focusing on innovative areas such as natural dyes extraction and mordants, fiber modification, and the regeneration of proteins for various applications. Prof. Ravindra V. Adivarekar has guided 22 Ph.D. and 55 master's students, with ongoing supervision of 12 Ph.D. and 8 master's candidates. They have published over 100 international research papers and over 70 national research papers, presented 50 conference papers, and hold 2 patents. With an h-index of 18 and 1091 citations, their research has a substantial impact on the field. Additionally, their work on dyeing and printing of textiles, microbial enzyme and colorant extraction for textile processing, medical textiles, color fastness, detergency, and the application of ionic liquids and dendrimers in textiles showcases their comprehensive expertise and dedication to advancing sustainable and effective textile technologies.
