This concise volume examines how environmental conditions, specifically lighting, noise, and vibration, affect human performance, health, and comfort. As workplace demands evolve, so must our approach to design. This book covers the importance of aligning visual and auditory elements of work environments with the needs and limitations of the human body, whilst also enhancing productivity and minimizing risk.

This book details the tools and insights needed to better support human well-being in complex environments. Readers will discover thorough coverage of lighting principles, from basic definitions and equipment types to contemporary developments in visual display technologies and their ergonomic implications. The book also presents an in-depth treatment of noise in the workplace, covering measurement, physiological effects, and protective strategies, as well as an analysis of human exposure to vibration. Together, these chapters provide readers with a practical understanding of how to evaluate and improve the sensory and physical quality of working environments.

Workplace Environmental Factors: Lighting, Noise, and Vibration is essential for professionals in ergonomics and human factors engineering, as well as for industrial designers, occupational health specialists, and policymakers involved in shaping safe and effective workspaces.
