ELLEN KARSH, currently a lecturer and author, was director of the New York City Mayor's Office of Grants Administration for nearly eight years, working for Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg, prior to which she developed grants for the New York City Board of Education. She has won tens of millions of dollars by writing proposals to government agencies and private foundations. ARLEN SUE FOX spent ten years as the director of research, planning, and evaluation for the New York City Human Rights Commission and twelve years as a consultant in research, evaluation, and proposal writing for nonprofit organizations, from grassroots groups to national organizations.
