Performance Networks: Transforming Governance for the 21st Century is a public manager's guide to helping multi-agency, cross-boundary teams and partnerships deliver better results using a framework of ten key, interrelated aspects - Leadership, Geography, Communication, Learning, Activities, Structure, Management, Services, Customers and Performance Measures.
Where problems cross government boundaries, solutions must be found that do the same.
In every domain of democracy, from healthcare to national security, government structures known as performance networks establish cross-boundary partnerships, leverage best practices, and embrace citizen engagement to deliver the solutions needed to meet today's challenges. As they continue to evolve, these focused networks will improve the practices and reduce the costs of governance while delivering better results.
This essential public administration resource includes:
- A brief history of government-based networks with highlights from recent studies.
- Ten views of how to improve the results delivered by multi-agency, cross-boundary teams and partnerships: Leadership, Geography, Communication, Learning, Activities, Structure, Management, Services, Customers and Performance Measures.
- Specific guidance on Transformational Strategic Planning.
