Granular Lunar Soils
CRC Press (Verlag)
978-1-032-43007-2 (ISBN)
This book is essential in helping develop a framework for a science-based mitigation method and is useful for scientists and engineers from NASA and other space agencies, faculty and students, and the growing number of private business entities.
Masami Nakagawa has served as a faculty member in the Mining Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines, the Department of Earth Resources Engineering at Kyushu University, and the Department of Civil Engineering at the Tohoku University. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota, followed by a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Cornell University. His expertise in granular materials has been cultivated through extensive academic and professional experience. In addition to academia, Nakagawa has worked at NASA Glenn Research Center, Sandia National Laboratories, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. His primary research interest is in the science of granular materials, with a focus on applying this knowledge in three key technological areas: lunar dust, geothermal resources, and nanobubbles.
Ch.1 Introduction to Granular Materials, Ch.2 Granular Lunar Soil and Lunar Environment, Ch.3 Lunar Regolith and Exploration, Ch.4 Lunar Dust, Ch. 5 Utilization of Regolith, Ch. 6 Terramechanics, Mobility and Lunar Granular Soil, Ch. 7 Challenges and Opportunities
