This book focuses on the latest developments in agricultural research. Chapter 1 reviews research that evaluates the various causes that have led to food loss and waste in numerous countries. It also seeks to provide climate-smart ways to reduce food waste and losses. Chapter 2 focuses on the history of coffee farming in Vietnam, specifically in Lam Dong Province, followed by an analysis of the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of coffee production in three areas. Chapter 3 adapts the methodology of the New Institutional Economics and offers a holistic framework for an adequate understanding of the concept and components of the agri-food governance system and for assessing its quality. Chapter 4 sheds light on the agroecological performance of the agri-food sector by examining the three most prevalent agricultural systems - subtropical crops, olive groves, and horticultural crops - in Southern Spain's Axarquia region. Chapter 6 discusses coconut and oil palm management, and the waste that is produced that can be used as a source of raw materials for making organic fertilizer. Chapter 7 is aimed at the use of SMS for bidirectional communication with smallholder farmers in Kenya. Finally, Chapter 8 studies the state of the genomes of Erwinia Amylovora, E-coli, Pectobacterium caratovorum and attacks by bacteriophages during the storage of potatoes (in vivo) grown in northern Germany in 2023 using the gravitational mass spectroscopy (GMS) method.
