The root-knot nematodes are of widespread occurence in soils, particularly in the warmer regions of the world, but also in temperate climates. This CD is designed to fulfill the role of an up-to-date reference and teaching resource for nematologists and others interested in the group.
The root-knot nematodes are of widespread occurrence in soils, particularly in the warmer regions of the world, but also in temperate climates. They are capable of rapid reproduction on susceptible plants with many species having an extensive host range. A number of species are of major economic importance, often attacking a broad spectrum of subsistence and commercial crops. They can cause substantial reductions in yield to both field crops and those grown under protected cultivation and also cause severe damage in nurseries. Identification to species level, although essential for determining appropriate control strategies, is difficult because of the morphological similarities of the large number of described species. This CD is designed to fulfill the role of an up-to-date reference and teaching resource for nematologists and others interested in the group and brings together, in an accessible and user-friendly form, many data otherwise scattered in the (often obscure) literature.
