Notts County is a club rich on history but short on publications of the printed word. Lifelong Notts fan Paul Mace redresses that imbalance in One Flew Over the Magpies Nest by taking the reader behind-the-scenes at Meadow Lane on a journey spanning all four divisions and six decades. During that time, no fewer than THREE England managers have been at the County helm, current incumbent Sam Allardyce, Sven-Goran Eriksson and Howard Wilkinson. Stories, anecdotes and banter are related with affection by the managers, players and executives of the club for the very first time. Legends who recall the joy, frustrations, elation and despair of pulling on those famous black and white stripes. Above all, it is a celebration of the world's oldest - and proudest - professional football club. All profits from the publication are being donated to the Notts County Former Players' Association - a thankyou to the players who have given us all so much pleasure and entertainment over the seasons.

Paul Mace has enjoyed a professional career involved in international football and sport at the highest level. A former journalist and broadcaster with newspapers in Retford, Peterborough, Birmingham and Nottingham, he spent 14 years at Leicester City rising from English football's first full-time press officer in 1991 to become Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the club at Premier League level. He created his own sports communications and marketing consultancy Macesport in 2005 and established it as the leading multi-award-winning independent company in its sector in the UK and Europe. He has covered multiple World Cups, European Championships, Champions League campaigns and NFL SuperBowls on behalf of clients and sponsors. But it is Meadow Lane which he considers his 'spiritual home' as a fourth-generation Magpies supporter dating back to the inception of the Football League in 1888. Born and raised in Bakersfield (where as a young boy he would see Notts go on pre-season training runs through Colwick Woods), Paul attended his first game in 1967 aged four and has watched Notts in all four divisions and at over 130 different grounds across England and Europe. He passionately believes that iconic figures from this period are given a platform to tell their own behind-the-scenes story for the first time. All profits from the publication are being donated to the Notts County Former Players Association - a thank you to the players who have given us all so much pleasure and entertainment over the seasons.
