Provides a detailed appreciation of the legal basis for set off, with particular reference to standard forms of contract and the relationship between main contractor and sub-contractor. Following a brief history of set off, attention is given to express set off provisions and adjudication in regard to the JCT standard forms, JCT Works Contract/2, and the GW/S and FCEC "blue form" sub-contractors.
