Sport Psychology, Fifth Edition provides a comprehensive overview of sport and exercise psychology. It outlines the theoretical framework and provides the necessary psychological foundation of sport psychology while offering a real-life handbook approach to using psychological strategies as a sport participant and coach. This unique book stresses an applied approach to the field and presents scientific research and empirical data without the use of technical jargon.

Mark H. Anshel is a professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Safety at Middle Tennessee State University. He has consulted with sports teams, ranging from youth sports to professional levels, and has applied the sport psychology literature in both medical and corporate settings. He has consulted with cardiac and pulmonary patients undergoing exercise rehabilitation in hospital settings, consulted with exercisers to enhance exercise performance and adherence in fitness programs, and applied performance psychology concepts in helping corporate clients to reach and sustain high performance under pressure.
