We describe kinetic and kinematic parameters of non-dysplastic and dysplastic Rottweiler dogs, as well as the latter before and after pectineomyectomy, iliopsoas muscle tenotomy, and joint capsule neurectomy. The dogs were divided into two groups: non-dysplastic and dysplastic dogs. Kinetic and temporospatial parameters were measured using a baropodometric platform. Kinematic analysis of locomotion assessed the angles and angular velocity of the shoulder, elbow, carpal, coxofemoral, knee, and tarsal joints, as well as the abduction-adduction of the coxofemoral joint, recorded by three infrared cameras and processed by computer software. Clinical evaluation showed improvement in pain and lameness scores. It was observed that dysplastic dogs have kinematic, kinetic, and temporospatial values that indicate greater hip flexion and a greater range of abduction movement of the pelvic limbs to adapt to joint pain. Animals treated with the aforementioned palliative surgery show clinical improvement in pain and limb use, corroborated by kinetic and temporospatial analysis.

Born in Fortaleza, Ceará, the author graduated as a Veterinary Doctor from the State University of Ceará - UECE (2001), Master in Animal Clinic and Surgery (2009) and Doctor in Animal Surgical Clinic (2012) from the São Paulo State University 'Júlio de Mesquita Filho' - UNESP, Botucatu Campus. He is currently a professor of Veterinary Medicine.
