This book focuses on women s contributions to these technical areas in the historically male-dominated fields and industry.

Amanda Weissman is a Principal Systems Engineer and Associate Fellow for Lockheed Martin, where she is a systems architect specializing in the design of Combat Systems for Surface Navy ships. At Lockheed Martin, Weissman has continually demonstrated her exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to driving innovation within the defense and telecommunications industries. Throughout her tenure at Lockheed Martin, Weissman has led teams to modernize legacy software applications built nearly half a century ago to transition to cloud native technologies. Weissman has a history of versatility and adaptability and has held roles in systems, radar, manufacturing, and software engineering. Weissman also gained valuable commercial experience as a technical leader and program manager in the telecommunications industry. Weissman holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Weissman is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and a certified SAFe architect. An ardent advocate for women in engineering, Weissman is a Life Member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Her passion for empowering women in the field is evident through her active participation in various leadership roles within the organization, spanning all levels of Society leadership. Weissman's professional affiliations include INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and NDIA (National Defense Industrial Association). Weissman is a recipient of SWE's Distinguished New Engineer Award, WE Local ELiTE Award, and Emerging Leader Award. She also received the RIT Kate Gleason College of Engineering Alumni Emerging Leader award. Beyond her professional pursuits, Weissman actively engages with her community by serving on multiple alumni advisory boards for RIT and as a devoted Girl Scout Troop Leader. As a working mother, she finds balance between a successful career and family life, enjoying travel experiences with her husband and two children.
