Special Techniques of Natural Dyeing using Mordants and Modifiers explores the development of special auxiliaries that enhance the colourfastness, colour depth and sustainability of naturally dyed fabrics while maintaining a low carbon footprint. Key topics include chapters on mordants, bio-mordants, transitional metal salts and rare earth salts. Additionally, the book covers various modifiers and auxiliaries designed to improve colour adherence, as well as a chapter dedicated to post-mordanting treatments with amino compounds. Natural dye enthusiasts will gain valuable insights into using mordants sustainably and achieving vibrant, long-lasting colours from common flowers and other local vegetative materials.

Dr. Padma Shree Vankar holds a Ph.D in organic chemistry and has over 25 years' experience in natural dyeing. She is currently working as Head in the Somaiya Centre of Excellence in Analytical and Measurement Sciences, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, India. Dr. Vankar's current research is in the characterization of newer natural dyes and designing synthetic strategies for eco-friendly dyes. She has written 8 books in the field, handled 10 major research projects on natural dyes, published 170 research publications and made one documentary film on process development in vegetable dyeing. Pankar has one Indian Patent granted on natural dye. Dr. Dhara Shukla currently works at the Facility of Ecological and Analytical testing, Indian Institute of Technology, India. She previously worked as a Senior Research Associate at the FEAT Laboratory, IIT Kanpur and as Chief Chemist in a Private company Shree R International. Dr. Shukla completed her CSIR fellowship of Research Associate in March 31st 2012 (on Bio Nano Particles from various Plant Extracts and their characterization). Her research interesting include dyeing with newer natural dyes, Nanochemistry and its application in textiles and heavy metal mitigation with fungal and other biotic sources. Dr. Shukla has co-authored 3 books in the field and published 19 research papers.
