Electrically and thermally conductive polymer composites are the result of the resin and filler properties, mixing conditions, flow during forming such as injection or compression molding, and part design (affecting thickness and local material conditions). This book provides an overview of all three facets of material, processing, and properties with the latest research and patent literature. The reader will gain an understanding of the important material and processing parameters such that the material composition and operating conditions can be optimized to provide the targeted properties. The inclusion of a modeling section highlights what can be predicted based on existing models and outline opportunities for research.
Andrew N. Hrymak, Ph.D., is Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, and Director of the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Composites Research at Western University. His research interests include modeling, design, and optimization of materials processing systems, with an emphasis on polymer composites.
Shengtai Zhou, Ph.D., is Associate Professor at the Polymer Research Institute of Sichuan University. His primary research area is processing of polymer composites, with a special focus on conductive polymer composites and self-lubricating polymer composites.
Huawei Zou, Ph.D., is Professor at the Polymer Research Institute of Sichuan University. His research focuses on the preparation of thermal protection composites, design of high-performance epoxy resin and carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites, porous materials for cushioning and thermal insulation applications as well as fabrication of thermoplastic polymer composites.
