Ashish Verma is a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay and currently serving as a Professor of Transportation Systems Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India. Further, he was a Visiting Professor at ITMO University, Saint Petersberg, Russia during 2016 and a Visiting Fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia during 2019. Before joining IISc, he has served in IIT Guwahati, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). His research interests are in; sustainable transportation planning & policy, integrated public transport planning and management, non-motorized transport (NMT), transport & Livability/Quality of Life (QoL), transport & climate change, modeling and optimization of transportation systems, travel behavior analysis and modeling, pedestrian and crowd flow modeling, driver behaviour and road safety, intelligent transportation system (ITS), traffic control & management etc. He has authored more than 260 research publications, including more than 100 journal publications, in the area of transportation systems engineering. He also has a patent and a software copyright to his credit. He is the founding Editor-in Chief (EiC) of the new journal “Sustainable Transport and Livability” published by Taylor & Francis (T&F). He is the Former Editor of journal of several internationally recognised publishing houses. He is presently serving as Steering & Scientific Committee Member of World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) based in University of Leeds, UK. He is also currently serving as Hony. Secretary of Institute of Urban Transport (India). T. V. Ramanayya holds a degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s in Transportation Engineering and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, all from the Regional Engineering College (presently known as the National Institute of Technology) Warangal, Andhra Pradesh. He has more than four decades of experience (seven years in REC Warangal and 32 years at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore) in teaching, training, research, and consultancy in the areas of transportation and urban infrastructure. He has guided a number of students for master’s degree and Ph.D. thesis. Some of the project assignments include holistic organizational transformation strategies (HOTS) for APSRTC, sponsored by the government of Andhra Pradesh; development of strategic policymaking on bus passenger transport in India; design of internal control systems for KSRTC; rural transport infrastructure in entire South India; assessment of social and economic impact of rural roads component, sponsored by the government of Andhra Pradesh. He was involved in developing two new courses and taught them to master’s level students at IIM Bangalore, which includes: planning and management of urban infrastructure; computer applications including simulation programs for urban traffic and transportation.
