The book begins with an introduction to waste valorization and explores the various processes and managements of converting waste materials produced by industrial activities into valuable products or energy. Notably, it explores the transformation of agrowaste into biochar, which not only provides a sustainable method of waste management but also acts as a negative carbon technology, significantly contributing to climate change mitigation. In addition to exploring different methods for energy conversion, the book also provides a global perspective through case studies from different countries and regions of the world.
A multidisciplinary scientist, interested in a wide range of fields from biomass energy to biolubricant production from natural sources such as vegetable oils. Currently working as a researcher at the University of Extremadura, he has also worked in the Agricultural Technological Institute of Extremadura, belonging to CICYTEX (Scientific and Technological Research Center of Extremadura). With more than 50 research works published in international peer-reviewed journals, along with more than 50 communications in international conferences, he has contributed to the completion of various book chapters and books devoted to the abovementioned subjects. As a university professor at the Industrial Engineering School (University of Extremadura, Spain), he has participated in courses in different university and mater degrees related to Engineering and Renewable Energies. He received his degree in Chemistry and the PhD degree at the University of Extremadura. With a wide experience in scientific research (he has published in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals), his current research in the Department of Applied Physics is based on combustion, pyrolysis, gasification, thermochemical processes, energy use of biomass waste, active carbons and biodiesel or bioethanol production, among others.
