Professor Xiaozhou Liu is a professor at the Acoustics Institute of Nanjing University, China. He also serves as the director of the Jiangsu Acoustical Society and holds the Pan Zhonglai Distinguished Professorship at Nanjing University. Professor Liu obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Nanjing University in 1999. He then pursued postdoctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China from 1999 to 2000. In 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the Materials Research Institute of Pennsylvania State University, the USA. His research interests include nonlinear acoustics, medical ultrasound, and ultrasonic non-destructive testing. Professor Liu has led several key research projects, including a national key research and development plan and six Chinese National Natural Science Foundation projects. He has also participated in four major national scientific research projects and one key project of the National Natural Science Foundation. His work has resulted in the development of a new type of piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor, which has been appraised as reaching an internationally advanced level. Additionally, he has been granted 14 national invention patents. He received the second prize of the Higher Education Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2022, the second prize of the Higher Education Natural Science Awards in 2007, and the third prize of the National Education Commission Science and Technology Progress Awards in 1997. Professor Hairong Zheng is Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor and Vice President of Nanjing University, China. His research focuses on medical imaging information technology and instrumentation, and acoustic/magnetic biophysics. He is a recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Award of China, the National Technological Invention Award, and the First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. He is the principal investigator of the China 973 plan, a special fund for Scientific Instrument Development from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2006. Then he served as a project scientist in the Biomedical Engineering Department, the University of California, Davis, and as professor, and Deputy Dean at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Currently, he is also Director of the National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices, and Director of Key Laboratory of Medical Imaging Science and Technology System, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
