The Physics of Cosmology offers a comprehensive update to theoretical cosmology, drawing on the latest observations that measure, analyze, and synthesize vast amounts of data to refine our understanding of the Universe. By incorporating groundbreaking advances, such as high-precision measurements across all redshifts and transformative discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope, the book critically examines and methodically revises the assumptions underlying our interpretation of cosmic phenomena. This process leads to a more robust and accurate standard model, reflecting the dynamic and increasingly detailed picture emerging from contemporary astrophysical research.

Covering a wide range of topics from the Early Universe to the Semi-Classical Universe, this book stands out for its clarity and breadth, making it a valuable resource for students and researchers in general relativity and astrophysics. The book not only highlights the leading contributors and pivotal discoveries in the field but also provides timely and original material that supports both learning and instruction, keeping pace with cosmology’s rapid evolution over the past decade.

Fulvio Melia is professor of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Mathematics at the University of Arizona. He is an internationally recognized leader in astrophysics and cosmology, having previously published over 300 refereed papers and seven books in these fields, for which he has received major prizes, including the PROSE award from the Association of American Publishers, recognizing distinguished professional and scholarly books. He has also served as associate editor of the Astrophysical Journal and Astrophysical Journal Letters and has been the recipient of the prestigious Presidential Young Investigator award for innovative research in the United States.
