Micromanufacturing Operations explores the precision manufacturing at the microscale, providing updated knowledge on micromanufacturing operations such as laser texturing, micro-machining, micro-EDM, micro-punching, micro-rolling, and micro-deposition techniques. Micromanufacturing enables the production of high-end components across various sectors, including microchips and MEMS devices in electronics, microfluidic devices, lab-on-a-chip systems in biomedical applications, microsensors and microactuators in the automotive and aerospace industries, and microgenerators and micro-scale energy harvesting devices in the energy sector. The book, designed for engineers, practitioners, and students, adopts a practical, hands-on approach, incorporating case studies and emphasizing recent advances in micromanufacturing operations across various sectors.

  • Focuses on emerging technologies for high-end applications in different sectors;

     Selim Gürgen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU), located in Eskisehir, Turkey. Additionally, he serves as the Director of Eskisehir Vocational School within ESOGU, and holds a position as an Executive Board Member of the Aerospace Technologies Research Center. Dr. Gürgen has participated in international projects and collaborations, including visits to the University of Wollongong in Australia and Central South University in China for projects on smart materials, and the University of Aveiro in Portugal for research on cork composites. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at a joint venture of KMWE-Dutch Aero. Throughout his career, Dr. Gürgen has contributed to various industrial and research projects in collaboration with organizations such as Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Fiat Automotive Industry, and the Turkish Air Force. Funding for his projects has been provided by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK), the European Union (EU), and other local and international funders. He has a substantial publication record, with numerous articles in refereed international journals, as well as edited and authored books and book chapters. His research interests primarily focus on materials science and manufacturing technologies in the defense and aerospace industries.
