Floating Photovoltaics: Design, Performance, Degradation, Financial Sustainability, and Environmental Impacts offers broad coverage of floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems, enabling the reader to understand design, deployment, and performance, as we all economic feasibility and environmental factors. The book introduces a range of pre-feasibility analysis methods such as location selection, bathymetric studies, design of anchors and mooring, effect of waves, and tilt angle. Design criteria of FPV systems are then discussed in detail, from module selection and inverter selection to conditions and operating temperature. The types of degradation and the effect of degradation on long-term performance of FPV systems are analyzed, with a parameter level study helping to determine the exact long-term degradation of FPV systems, as well as the effect of maintenance on performance of FPV systems. The final chapters in the book focus on financial sustainability, environmental impacts, and policy recommendations, supporting further development, deployment, and decision-making with regard to FPV technology and projects. Researchers, advanced students, faculty, engineers, R&D, scientists, and policy makers with an interest in floating photovoltaic systems will find this book to be an interesting resource.

Anik Goswami is an Assistant Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology Chennai, India. His research covers solar photovoltaic systems, floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) systems, energy economics, and sustainability. He completed his Ph.D. at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with specialization in Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, and received the university gold medal for securing 1st rank in M.Tech. Dr. Goswami has published numerous papers in SCI-indexed journals relating specifically to FSPV design and development, as well as working on the economic and environmental sustainability of PV and FSPV systems. He also has 1 granted and 1 applied patent, and acts as a reviewer of several SCIE-indexed journals. Pradip Kumar Sadhu is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, India. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, India, in 2002, with a focus on engineering. His current research interests include renewable energy systems, FSPV systems, power electronics applications, application of high frequency converters, and energy efficient devices. Prof. Kumar has published numerous journal and conference papers, holds several patents, and is also a principal investigator on multiple government-funded projects, as well as guiding a large number of M.Tech. and Ph.D. students. Senthil Kumar Natarajan is currently serving as Professor and Dean in the School of Electrical Engineering at VIT, Chennai, India. He obtained his Ph. D degree from Anna University in 2010. His area of research interest is on modelling of FACTS devices for small signal stability enhancement and transient stability studies, distributed generation control, microgrid control and protection, and smart grids. M. Prabhakar is a Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering (SELECT), Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, India, since 2019, having previously been Associate Professor at the same institution since 2012. He is also associated with the Centre of Smart Grid Technologies since 2022. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2012. His research interests include power electronics, power converters, high gain DC-DC converters, and DC microgrids. Prof. Prabhakar has co-authored more than 50 research articles in various high impact factor journals and conferences, is an active reviewer for various journals, and has received seed grant funding of Rs. 4.53 lakhs from VIT Chennai. He also received the Outstanding Teacher Award for his excellent teaching and research contributions in 2009, and the Research Award from VIT Chennai for his research contributions since 2012.
