However, in Tunisia, the rail sector faces many challenges, including demand below potential, aging infrastructure and increased competition from other modes of transport.This book offers an in-depth analysis of rail transport demand in Tunisia, based on an econometric and historical approach. It aims to understand the reasons for the under-utilization of the Tunisian rail network, identify the determinants of demand and explore the prospects for improving and modernizing the sector.

Besma Talbi holds a PhD in quantitative methods, is a member of the LEGI research laboratory at the École Polytechnique de Tunisie and a senior lecturer at the Institut Supérieur des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication de Borj Cédria, Université de Carthage.
