Adsorption and Degradation of Emerging Contaminants in Soils and Water is an essential resource for understanding the removal of emerging contaminants from the environment. This book dives deep into topics such as pharmaceuticals, personal care products, perfluoroalkyl substances, and microplastics, offering readers a comprehensive view of adsorption and degradation mechanisms. It discusses sustainable recovery approaches and the prospects for a circular economy, providing valuable insights into cutting-edge technologies for environmental protection. The book also explores the intricate processes involved in eliminating chemicals of emerging concern and engineered nanoparticles.

Finally, it summarizes recent advances, filling a crucial knowledge gap by addressing the removal of emerging contaminants in detail.

Prof. Bin Gao is the Kodak Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA. Prior to this, he was a Professor at the University of Florida, a Research Associate at Cornell University, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Yale University. He earned his PhD degree in Environmental Engineering at Cornell University, United States, and his BS Chemistry and MS Environmental Chemistry degrees from Nanjing University, China. He has an extensive list of publications in the field of environmental science and engineering. Prof. Gao has received numerous professional honors including Fulbright Distinguished Scholar, SSSA Fellow, Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher, and NSF CAREER Award. Junhe Lu is a professor in the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences at Nanjing Agricultural University. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Nanjing University and earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington. Following his doctoral studies, he underwent postdoctoral training at the University of Georgia. Prof. Lu's research is centered on physicochemical treatment processes, and the transformation of contaminants in both natural and engineered systems. He has authored over 120 refereed journal articles.
