Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-031-85081-3 (ISBN)
This book reports on current shipping and shipbuilding industries' efforts for decarbonization. It demonstrates what regulations have been made for large ships on international voyages and points to what is to change in the future. The book also quantitatively reviews the current challenges of alternative fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, biofuels, and e-fuels, considering economics, safety, and greenhouse gas emissions assessments.
Youngsub Lim received Ph.D. in process systems engineering in the field of chemical engineering. Then Youngsub Lim joined the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and is researching various process systems required for environmentally friendly ships and offshore platforms. Youngsub Lim s main research topics include alternative fuels production processes, cryogenic liquids (LNG, H2, CO2) liquefaction processes, cargo handling system and boil-off in a low-temperature tank, and carbon capture processes for ships.
