This book presents artificial photosynthesis (AP) that facilitates the capture and storage of solar energy in order to meet our energy needs. Furthermore, renewable carbon-neutral high-energy-density liquid fuels used in the present existing energy distribution infrastructure can also be synthesized by following the AP process using carbon dioxide, water, and electricity derived from sunlight. The only way to make energy, environment, economy, and life sustainable is to harvest sunlight to meet the energy needs of society by using carbon dioxide and water as for energy storage.
Dr. Ibram Ganesh obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, India. His design of the new technology called “Semiconductor and Liquid Assisted Photothermal Effect (SLAPE)” for generating electricity from sunlight has been identified as the most economical, simple, and efficient process in comparison to any of the commercially existing technologies including “Silicon Photovoltaic Cells (SPVC)”. His research interests are in the areas of artificial photosynthesis; carbon dioxide reduction; water oxidation; ceramic powder (oxide and non-oxide) synthesis and consolidation.
1. Technologies Available Today to Generate Electricity from Sunlight & Their Current Status.- 2. New SLAPE Solar Panels to Replace the Conventional Silicon Photovoltaic Cell (SPVC) Solar Panels.- 3. Electrochemical CO2 Reduction: Fundamentals and Existing Industrial Applications.- 4. Industrial Chemicals Synthesized Today from Carbon Dioxide and Its Direct Uses.- 5.
