The book investigates the interdisciplinary world where inorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, physical chemistry, and materials science converge. It examines the synthesis methodologies, distinctive characteristics, and wide-ranging applications of MOFs, from drug delivery to energy and sensors. This comprehensive guide evaluates the structure/reactivity–activity relationships and underscores the potential of MOFs in various fields.
Claudio Pettinari graduated in Chemistry from the University of Camerino, Italy in1989. His field of expertise covers inorganic, organometallic and coordination chemistry, in particular: synthesis of biologically active metal complexes, new catalysts, advanced materials, metal-organic frameworks. He is a Faculty member and full Professor at University of Camerino and CNR associate (ICCOM-Florence), and was co-founder of the International School of Organometallic Chemistry. He was awarded the Bonati prize and the Nasini Medal from the Italian Chemical Society, Doctor HC from the University of Galati, and is a member of the Academy of Science of Lisbon. President of the consortium REDI (Reducing Risks of Natural Disaster), President of CRUM (Conference Rectors of Marche), Member of board of ALMALAUREA, INSTM (Istituto Nazionale Scienze e Tecnologie dei Materiali). In 2017 Claudio Pettinari was appointed as Rector at the University of Camerino, Italy; from January 2021, he was appointed member of the Board of the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) and from September 2021 CRUI delegate for Research and Third Mission. In December 2022 he was elected Vice-President of the Italian Chemistry Society (Società Chimica Italiana).
