This text aims to present the key topics in thermodynamics in an accessible manner, using a physical, intuitive approach rather than a highly mathematical one. It uses numerous SI units, and highlights the use of imperial units with a special icon.

Over 1000 illustrations are used to illustrate the topics, and the worked examples are also illustrated with sketches and process diagrams. There is a new equation-solving software program available to buyers which enables students to design problems. In addition there is information on new thermodynamic systems (e.g. more efficient gas turbines) to help students keep abreast of the field.
