This book provides an overview of chitin-based nanoparticles, including their properties, synthesis methods, and characterization techniques. It will also discuss the potential uses of chitin-based nanoparticles in agriculture, such as in crop protection, nutrient delivery, and soil improvement as well as potential areas for future research and development. Overall, the book would present a comprehensive and accessible resource for researchers, agricultural workers, policymakers, and other stakeholders who are interested in learning about the potential applications and benefits of chitin-based nanoparticles in agriculture.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Bachheti graduated from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, India, in 1996. He completed his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the same university in 1998. Later, in 2001, he pursued a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Pulp and Paper Technology from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Kumaun University, Nainital, India, in 2007. Dr. Bachheti has a total of 20 years of research and teaching experience. He is a Visiting Faculty Member at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India, and a Research Fellow at INTI International University, Persiaran Perdana BBN, Putra Nilai, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Dr. Bachheti has published more than 150 research papers and edited over 8 books. He is listed among the Top 2% Scientists for the year 2024 by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier. Professor Archana (Joshi) Bachheti completed her B.Sc. in 1997 and M.Sc. in 1999 from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. She earned her Ph.D. from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India, in 2006. Currently, she is a Professor at Graphic Era University in Dehradun, India. With over 20 years of extensive experience, she has served in various academic roles in India and has also provided expertise internationally. Her teaching portfolio includes subjects such as ecology and environment, environmental science, freshwater ecology, disaster management, and bryophytes and pteridophytes. Professor Bachheti's research interests span a broad and interdisciplinary field of plant ecology, with a focus on ecorestoration, green chemistry—particularly the synthesis of nanomaterials—and exploring the medicinal properties of plants. Her research has involved ecological restoration of degraded lands, studying the physical and chemical properties of plant oils, and investigating plant-based nanomaterials. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in mentoring students and researchers. Dr. Bachheti has published more than 130 research papers and edited over 8 books. She is listed among the Top 2% Scientists for the year 2024 by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier. Professor Azamal Husen (B.Sc. from Shri Murli Manohar Town Post Graduate College, Ballia, UP; M.Sc. from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, and Ph.D. from Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun, India) is Foreign Delegate at Wolaita Sodo University, Wolaita, Ethiopia, and Adjunct Professor at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. He has served the University of Gondar, Ethiopia, as Full Professor of Biology, and worked there as Coordinator of the M.Sc. program and as Head of the Department of Biology. He was Visiting Faculty Member of the Forest Research Institute and the Doon College of Agriculture and Forest at Dehra Dun, India. Dr. Husen's research and teaching experience of 25 years include nanobiotechnology, plant physiology, environmental botany, medicinal plants, and plant propagation.  He is on the advisory board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK. He Fellow of the Plantae group of the American Society of Plant Biologists.
