Antimicrobial Materials and Coatings covers the properties, fabrication technologies, and applications of antimicrobial coatings and materials, with a focus on innovative antimicrobial nanomaterials. Due to the globally concerning issue of antimicrobial resistance and the evidence that nanomaterials are believed to have no or low potential for resistance development, considerable efforts have been directed to synthesizing and developing antibacterial coatings and nanomaterials for a range of applications. This book guides the reader through the key properties, fabrication technologies and various applications of antimicrobial coatings and materials, including applications in food packaging, biomedicine and public health, water treatment and decontamination.

Chaudhery Mustansar Hussain is an adjunct professor and lab director in the Department of Chemistry & Environmental Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), United States. His research is focused on sustainability, nanotechnology & advanced materials, environmental management, analytical chemistry, and other various industries. Dr. Hussain is the author of numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as a prolific author and editor of several books, including scientific monographs and handbooks in his research areas. He has published with ELSEVIER, American Chemical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, John Wiley & Sons, CRC Press, and Springer. Dr. Ashish Kumar Singh received his PhD in Biotechnology in 2018 from Punjabi University, Patiala, India. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the School of Biomedical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, India. His primary research interests are in the development and application of nanomaterials and imprinted polymers for sensor and electrochemical biosensor. Also, his research focus is in the areas of micro-/nanofabrication, materials science, and thin film sensors/biosensor development. He has published more than 20 research/review papers and 4 book chapters in his credit and attended various national/International conferences. Dr. Marshal is an Associate Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. Prior to this, he was a senior scientist at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad and was also a Senior Fellow in Department of Bioengineering, University of Washington, Seattle, USA. He received his PhD from UMIST (the Manchester University, England) in 2004 in low temperature plasma physics for application to life science. He has also worked as a Research Professor at the Biology Research Centre for Industrial Accelerators, Dongshing University, Naju, South Korea and also has held a Scientist Fellow position at the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India. He is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Biosensors & Bioelectronics. He has more than 70 publications and multiple patents applied.
