This book is intended for metrologists who are in charge of specifying ultrasonic flow meters, calibrating or accurately measuring water, oil and natural gas flowrate in custody transfer and fiscal measurement applications, and require a deep knowledge of the measurement principles and the results that can be achieved, so that the legal metrology requirements can be met.

Autor

Alcir de Faro Orlando obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA - Brazil) in 1967, his MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ - Brazil) in 1969, and his PhD in Thermosciences from Stanford University (USA) in 1974, with an experimental thesis on heat transfer in turbulent flows. He has been working with the Brazilian Oil and Gas Company (PETROBRAS) since 1986 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has supervised about 80 MSc and PhD students, published more than 130 conference papers and journals, and written more than 220 research project technical reports, mainly for PETROBRAS. He has been working with the National Academy of Engineering, Brazil, since 2013, being one of its Directors, where he has been discussing how to improve the engineering activities in Brazil.
