Energy-Exergy Analysis of Waste Heat Recovery Systems provides a deep understanding of the energy and exergy analysis tools necessary in the optimization of waste-heat recovery technologies. This systematic reference reviews technical aspects and evaluates them under energy and exergy analysis to compare the performance of various energy conversion processes using different products and outputs. It critically compares the energetic and exergetic performance of different waste heat recovery options, considering their applicability in different waste heat sources and their sustainability potential. This is a valuable resource for those researching, teaching and learning in the field of waste-heat recovery technologies, waste heat conversion and thermal energy conversion technologies , offering a comprehensive guide to the latest technologies and their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and performance, using the latest tools of energy and exergy analysis.

Dr. Braimakis completed his PhD in 2018 at the Laboratory of Steam Boilers and Thermal Plants of the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece under the supervision of Prof. Sotirios Karellas, after obtaining his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Specializing in Energy Engineering) at the same institution. The topic of his doctoral thesis was the energetic, exergetic and thermoeconomic optimization of advanced Organic Rankine Cycle systems. His research interests include the energy-exergy and thermoeconomic analysis and optimisation of decentralized thermal energy conversion systems. These include waste heat recovery, Organic Rankine Cycle, thermal cooling, generation/ rigeneration/ polygeneration applications driven by waste heat, biomass, solar and geothermal energy as well as hybrid energy systems. Sotirios Karellas is a professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA and visiting Professor at the Technische Universität München, specialist on energy systems, energy storage, solar-thermal energy, biomass, ORC technology, decentralised energy systems, heat pumps, and tri-generation systems. He has over 100 relevant publications in scientific Journals and Conferences. He is currently supervising 5 Ph.D. students at NTUA working in the field of energy production/conversion and energy performance in buildings. He has participated in a high number of projects in NTUA (2006-present) and in Technische Universität München (2001-2006), having both technical and coordination responsibilities. He has significant industrial experience in power production plants, co/tri-generation systems, heat pumps, building heating systems and chillers. He is full member of the editorial board of 5 scientific journals dealing with energy systems and renewable energy sources.
