This book is very exhaustive and covers a wide range of topics of public sector economics, monetary, economics, economics, public finance, managerial economics engineering economics, and a brief account of Indian economy. It further covers estimation, measurement of various work items of construction projects and costs. Detailed specifications of different structures, details of rate analysis, tenders, bids and various Acts, compensations, and arbitrations about construction projects are described in a structure form.

As a civil engineer it is very important to have good understanding of estimation and costing of a construction project. The syllabus is very exhaustive and covers a wide range of topics.The book can also be used as a textbook for students of Construction Management, Infrastructural Engineering/ management courses of Economics in MBA. All nine modules of the AICTE syllabus have been mapped into eight chapters of this book. The ninth modules (one lecture) of the AICTE syllabus that deals with workers has been incorporated into chapter 2 which also deals with labour and labour market.

Professor Seema Singh teaches Economics at Delhi Technological University(till June 2009, it was Delhi College of Engineering) since January1999 and hasHeaded the Department of Humanities, DTU between August 2006 to December 2017. She authored a textbook titled, "Economics for Engineering Students" from the same publishing house in 2009 which students and teachers have widely appreciated. Largely, interested in the issues related to Engineering Education, Gender, Technology, Employment and Labor Market, she has presented and published several papers in refereed journals and conducted successfully several research projects funded by National and International organizations. She is a Board Member (South Asia) - 2021-23 of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) and is Vice-President of Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) India. She was Joint Secretary of the Indian Society of Labour Economics between 2006 to 2021 and the Hon. President of the University Women's Association of Delhi during 2019-21.She is a member of the editorial team and paper reviewer of many journals and is supervising post-doctoral and doctoral fellows. Professor Madhuri Kumari is an established academician with 10+ years of experience in industry and over 12 years of standing in academia. She received her B.E degree in civil engineering from Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh in 1997 with distinction and was awarded gold medal. She completed her M. Tech in hydraulics and water resources engineering from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1999 and was awarded BHU medal for her academic performance. Further, she was awarded doctorate degree from The Energy Resource Institute (TERI). She also holds MCA from IGNOU and PG Diploma in Design & Construction of Concrete Structures from Annamalai University. She is registered Professional Engineer, Engineers Council of India. She is member of several professional bodies like IEEE, Institution of Engineering and Technology(IET,UK), ISTE, Indian Society of Hydrologist, Indian Geotechnical Society, Indian Building Congress, Women in Science and Engineering (WISE India). Currently, she is working as Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, U.P alongside Dy. Director of Placement & Industry Relations. She has been editor of two books published by Springer. She has worked as co-principal investigator for MoEF&CC funded project on spatial decision support system for River Yamuna. She has attended several conferences, published technical papers and delivered talks in the field of civil engineering.
