The book is an important reference for students and researchers (from academics, but also industry) interested in understanding the properties of emerging materials.
Kuan Yew Cheong is a Professor in the School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research interests cover device fabrication, surface engineering, nanomaterials, semiconductor materials and devices, and electronic packaging materials. Giuliana Impellizzeri attained her Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Catania in 2004. She is a CNR researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Italy, a position she has held since November 1, 2004. She leads experimental research focused on materials science and has experience in atomic layer deposition (ALD), molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), ion implantation, and photocatalytic, structural and electrical properties of semiconductor-based materials. Her research activities are mainly focused on nanostructured photocatalytic semiconductors (principally TiO2 and ZnO) for application in water treatment. She also studies the electrical activation and diffusion of dopants in crystalline silicon and germanium, and their interaction with point defects and impurities for future microelectronic devices. Dr. Impellizzeri is the author of more than 110 papers published in international refereed journals. She is Editor of three Elsevier volumes: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B 256 (2007); Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing 15 (2012); Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing 42 (2016). She is overseeing Editor of one Elsevier volume: Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing 55, (2016). She is Member of the Board of the Institute for Microelectronics and Mycrosystem (IMM) of the CNR. She is Editor of the Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing journal (Elsevier). Mariana Amorim Fraga is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Program, Mackenzie Presbyterian University, São Paulo, Brazil. Her research interests focus mainly on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for the development of sensors, electronic devices, and energy technologies.
